Welcome to the website of the Quantum Verzeichnis - European Zoo directory.

The Quantum Verzeichnis/European Zoo and conservation organisations' Directory is sponsored by the charity Quantum Conservation e.V. as part of our mission to facilitate the spread of conservation information and encourage institutions to be active in environmental and species preservation projects.

Entries in the published book and to the online version are free and open to any zoo or suitable organisation.

Everyone can register for inclusion, but we reserve the right to refuse unsuitable candidates, such as some animal dealers.

We have one type of form (in three languages) for all types of zoos and all sorts of other institutions concerned with animals and their species-correct husbandry.
Altogether we cover 50 European countries.

If you click on one of the country flags above, you will be directed to the zoos in that country.

We have special sections in the book for government officials, rescue stations, scientific organisations like universities, NGOs and educational training facilities.
In addition we publish all current European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP) and European Studbooks (ESB) with their co-ordinators, as well as the latest list of the IUCN Specialist Groups and their chairs.

You can download a PDF version of the 2009 edition (7MB) to see what it looks like.

You can imagine that the collection of the necessary information every year is an enormous task and we are always looking for new people to help us. There is no money in it, but a lot of satisfaction! Click here for more information.

This web site is designed to allow zoos and other organisations to enter and update information about their own institution.
You can also use this page to order the latest print edition of the Zoo Directory/Quantum Verzeichnis.

Please help us to keep the European Zoo Directory/Quantum Verzeichnis up-to-date.
